  1. This disk contains the files for the Microsoft Windows 3.0 printer driver 
  2. that provides support for the United States versions of the following 
  3. Panasonic Laser printers: 
  4.     KX-P4450
  5.     KX-P4420
  6.     KX-P4450i
  7.  
  8. This software should be installed from within the Microsoft Windows 
  9. environment.  
  10.  
  11. Because the files required by this printer driver are not listed in the
  12. SETUP.INF file used by the Windows installation software, we have provided 
  13. a pre-install program to update your SETUP.INF file.  
  14.  
  15. After the PINSTALL program has completed successfully, you can install the 
  16. Panasonic Laser Printer Driver just as you would any driver delivered with 
  17. Windows.  This is done with the Windows Control Panel "Add Printer" 
  18. procedure.

  20. To run the PINSTALL program:
  21.     1:  Start the copy of Windows that you usually use.
  22.     2:  Insert the Panasonic Printer Driver disk in any diskette drive.
  23.         These instructions assume that you are using drive A:.  
  24.         If you are using another drive, simply substitute the letter
  25.         of that drive in these instructions.
  26.     3:  In Program Manager, select the FILE menu, then the Run option.
  27.         Type A:PINSTALL and press [Enter] or the OK button.
  28.     4:  The PINSTALL program will find your SETUP.INF file.  
  29.         Press the OK button to make the updates.

  31. The updates will be completed in a few seconds and you can proceed to 
  32. install the printer driver using the Windows Control Panel.

  34. Detailed instructions for adding a new printer driver through Control 
  35. Panel are found in the Windows manual.  The general instructions for 
  36. installing this printer driver are:
  37.     1:  Start Windows and run PINSTALL.
  38.     2:  In Program Manager, select the MAIN window and 
  39.         run Control Panel.  
  40.     3:  Select the Printers Icon from the Control Panel window.
  41.     4:  Select the [Add Printer...] button.
  42.     5:  Select "Unlisted Printer" at the bottom of the 
  43.         List of Printers, and press the [Install] button.
  44.     6:  Select the diskette drive containing the diskette in the
  45.         "Directories" list box.
  46.     7:  The "Driver Files" list box will display PANLP.DRV.
  47.         Select this file and press the [OK] button.

  49. You will have to configure the printer driver for the appropriate printer 
  50. port and the options of your particular printer.  See the Windows manual 
  51. and the Help facilities provided with this Printer Driver for more 
  52. information.

  54. Note:  You must run PINSTALL and the Windows Control Panel installation 
  55. procedure once for each installed copy of Windows that you have on your 
  56. disk or at your site.  You must also run PINSTALL and the Windows Control 
  57. panel installation procedure if you reinstall Windows.  There is no harm 
  58. if you accidentally run the PINSTALL program twice on the same copy of 
  59. Windows, as PINSTALL will not create duplicate entries.
